Alan Gearing is the President and founder of Gearing Capital Partners. He is responsible for the firm’s strategic direction with a specific focus on investment origination and capital structuring. Mr. Gearing has extensive experience in all aspects of real estate finance and investment and has been involved in over $2 billion of completed transactions over his career. Prior to founding GCP, Mr. Gearing was a Vice President at Secured Capital Corporation in New York where he executed various investment banking activities such as structuring debt and equity investments and raising capital. Prior to joining Secured Capital, Mr. Gearing was an Associate at JP Morgan Mortgage Capital where he underwrote and originated commercial mortgages for CMBS securitization and balance sheet. Mr. Gearing was also an Asset Management Analyst for Archon Group, a Goldman Sachs subsidiary on behalf of the $13 billion Whitehall Funds. Mr. Gearing holds a BBA in Finance and Real Estate Finance from Southern Methodist University and has completed Harvard Business School’s Real Estate Management Program.

Tavis Holsinger is the Portfolio Manager for Gearing Capital Partners. He is responsible for credit surveillance and management of all loan and REO assets. Mr. Holsinger and has been involved in various aspects of commercial real estate lending and investment for over 25 years. Prior to GCP, Mr. Holsinger was the Portfolio Manager for AWM Real Estate Fund I, LLC, a real estate private equity, small balance real estate fund focused on real estate lending and investment opportunities on properties located predominantly in the Midwest. Prior to joining AWM, Mr. Holsinger was the Regional Director of Originations for the CMO Group of Wells Fargo Bank where he was responsible for the origination and loan structuring of fixed and variable rate CMBS debt. Additionally, Mr. Holsinger was a Senior Underwriter for JP Morgan Mortgage Capital where he funded more than $500 million in commercial real estate loans. Mr. Holsinger holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering as well as an MBA in Finance from the University of Kansas.

Douglas Gearing currently serves as a Director for Gearing Capital Partners. He has been involved in various aspects of commercial real estate investment and structured finance for over 13 years. Mr. Gearing is responsible for loan originations, debt and equity valuations, portfolio management and investor reporting. He has extensive background in all commercial property types located throughout the United States. He assisted in the underwriting, closing and management of $100 million of loans spanning both high yield loan originations and distressed loan acquisitions. Prior to Gearing Capital Partners, Mr. Gearing worked for Henry S. Miller Commercial and was responsible for negotiating and closing, investment sales of properties throughout North Texas. Mr. Gearing holds a BBA in Finance and Real Estate Finance from Texas Tech University.

Max Cohen currently serves as a Director for Gearing Capital Partners. Mr. Cohen is responsible for loan acquisition and origination, asset management and investor reporting. He has been involved in various aspects of commercial real estate investment and structured finance for over 10 years. Prior to Gearing Capital Partners, Mr. Cohen worked as a Senior Vice President for FirstCity Financial Corporation, a multi-national specialty finance company focused on the acquisition of sub performing and non-performing loans. In this role, Mr. Cohen assisted in the underwriting and closing of over $1.0 billion of distressed assets. Prior to joining FirstCity, Mr. Cohen was an Associate, Merchant Banking – Investment Management for Morgan Stanley. Before Morgan Stanley, Mr. Cohen was a Senior Analyst for Crescent Real Estate Equities, a publicly traded REIT based in Ft. Worth, Texas. Mr. Cohen holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance from the University of Richmond.

Christopher Gautreaux is the Controller for Gearing Capital Partners. He is responsible for the accounting, banking, treasury management, financial reporting, and human resource functions. Prior to GCP, Mr. Gautreaux served as Controller of Real Estate Owned for Hudson Advisors, the asset management company for Lone Star Funds. Mr. Gautreaux oversaw the accounting functions for REO portfolios that included underlying asset types of hotel, industrial, land, multi-family, office, and retail. Additional duties included construction of lender reporting packages and REIT financial statements; treasury services and reporting deliverables on upcoming REO assets; reconciliation of loan servicer and escrow monitoring reports; development of cash management tools for select borrowers; management of internal audit requests; and creation of departmental policies and procedures. Prior to Hudson, Mr. Gautreaux served in accounting roles for Lantern Asset Management, a full-service real estate asset management firm, and INCAP Financial Group, an urban land planning and infill development company. Mr. Gautreaux holds a BS in Business Administration with concentrations in both Accounting and Finance, as well as an MBA from Nicholls State University.
